Today is officially the start of our trip to Japan.  Technically, we don't leave NYC for a couple more days, but between the holidays and other personal hiccups, we haven't really done an ounce of preparation.  So for the next 3 days, we'll be planning agendas, organizing toiletries, packing skivvies, and charging batteries.

The travel itinerary is as such:

JFK -> LAX
[overnight]
LAX -> NRT
[super lucky-time fortune smiles]
NRT -> LAX
[overnight]
LAX -> PHX
[family time]
PHX -> JFK

The aim is to keep up to date on the interwebs, treating the trip as as much a real-time event as possible.  I need to look into the iPhone details, but we'll have at least one laptop and a cafe with wifi is in our hotel.  I'll be shooting for hourly or instant updates, but may need to settle for daily.

Also, I'll be using Twitter again starting today.  I've found that travel- and event-based tweeting is far more enjoyable than the mundane "breathed again #stillalive" nonsense I usually experience (and, in all fairness, output myself).  I used #tabonebetrippin on an LA trip in December but it ate too many characters.  So this time, we're going with #tokyotabone, saving 4 precious letters for swearing.  Adjust your Tweetdecks accordingly.
